Whenever we hear the word cancer, fear creeps in our minds and we almost immediately think of the worst-case scenarios. However, that is not the case, as recent advancements in science and medicine have ensured that you can overcome cancer successfully in many cases. Keep these early warning signs of cancer in mind, and if you notice any of them, head to the doctor for a consultation immediately.
- Loss of appetite
While many other diseases like flu and even depression can lead to the loss of appetite, cancer has a more extreme way of disturbing your metabolism. Cancers of stomach, colon, ovaries, and pancreas can make you feel full constantly and that will lead to you just not wanting to eat at all. - Blood in the stool
There are a number of diseases that may cause blood in your stool. However, the color of the blood will help to determine the location from where it is coming. Dark-colored blood means it can be caused due to a stomach ulcer, while bright red-color blood means that you are bleeding in the rectum or the end of your intestines. Whatever may be the cause, see a doctor if you notice blood in your stool. - Fatigue
Another of the early warning signs of cancer is the feeling of extreme fatigue. Usually, fatigue goes away after a good sleep or by changing your activity levels. However, if you notice that the fatigue is lingering even after getting adequate rest or after moderating your activity levels, you need to book an appointment with the doctor. - Changes in the skin
This has been found to be an important sign of cancer in many individuals. A growth in your skin may start to look different or you may have a sore which refuses to go away. Go and check with your dermatologist if you find that the sore gets bigger or it changes its color or has an odd border or crusts and do not heals. - Sudden weight loss
The early warning signs of cancer also include sudden and unexplained weight loss. If you have not been doing rigorous exercises to shed your excess weight, sudden weight loss needs to be checked. - Swollen lymph nodes
It has been found that lymphoma and leukemia can lead to swelling of the lymph nodes. Even breast cancer can lead to the swelling of the lymph nodes in many women. If you find that the swelling does not go away on its own, it is a good idea to visit the doctor. - Bloating
Bloating usually goes away on its own, or if you take proper medicines. If it persists after a few weeks, do consult a doctor as it could be a sign of cancer.
Many diseases have overlapping symptoms and, hence, it is better to get yourself checked at the earliest if you ever notice any of these early warning signs of cancer in your body.
